Cate Shadley is a contemporary romance author who writes stories about what happens when true love meets the hilarity of midlife. 

When Cate celebrated her 30th birthday, her boss told her she no longer had to lie about her age to be taken seriously.  On her 40th birthday, the eye glasses store called to let her know she could pick up her new bifocals.  Despite passing these classy milestones, somehow the characters of the romance novels she read magically remained in their 20s. It was shocking! 

Unable to find many romance novels about people her own age, she decided to take matters into her own hands.  So now she writes stories about wickedly funny, talented, caring people who are single in their 30s, 40s and 50s.  Whether single all along, or single after divorce or the death of a partner, dating in midlife is not what most people thought they would be doing.  But while their Plan A may have been lovely, Plans B – Z are way more interesting, and those are the stories Cate loves to tell.

As a single mom of a teenager, Cate knows first hand that love is absurd in the best of circumstances.  But it’s even funnier when you try to find true love while juggling kids, aging parents, extended family and a career.

She also knows it’s better with friends – preferably salty ones who will show up if you need help burying a body in the middle of the night but who will also tell you when to pull up your big girl panties and deal with it.  The best ones do both while also making you laugh-and possibly bringing chocolate.  Cate is lucky to have a lot of those friends in her life to keep her line while she still seeks for Mr. Right.

So, welcome, settle in and get ready to daydream along with Cate.  Just don’t get so lost in the romantic daydream that you accidentally step on a Lego while barefoot.  Or a cat.  ‘Cuz Cate knows all about both of those, and she doesn’t recommend either one.
